Local and reliable
Great Southern Lime supplies high-quality agricultural lime from a Tamala limestone ridge on the Nullaki peninsula, between Albany and Denmark.
Soil acidity holds back yields across much of the Great Southern. Lime corrects it. The closer the pit, the lower the freight, so more of your spend goes on lime and less on trucks.

What's in the lime
Neutralising value (NV) measures how much acidity a lime can correct, compared with pure calcium carbonate at 100. Particle size matters too: finer lime works faster. The figures below come from a sample collected by DPIRD and tested by an approved laboratory for the Lime WA independent audit.

Results are for a single sample collected on one day. Lime occurs naturally and varies; moisture is not stated because it changes with the season.

Transport route
Trucks leave the pit on our own sealed haul road across Lot 9005 and join the public road network at Lake Saide Road. Haulage runs within the limits of our planning approval.

Common questions
How do I order?
Email sales@greatsouthernlime.com.au. Tell us where the farm is, how many tonnes you need and when you want it spread, and we'll come back to you.
When should I order?
Demand is highest in summer and autumn, ahead of seeding, so order early. Lime takes time to react with the soil, so spreading well before the crop goes in gives it the best chance to work.
How much lime do I need?
It depends on your soil. Start with a soil test, including the subsoil, because acidity below the surface is common in the Great Southern. Your agronomist can turn the results into a rate, or you can use DPIRD's iLime calculator. Enter our NV and particle size from the analysis.
What is neutralising value (NV)?
NV measures how much acid a lime can neutralise compared with pure calcium carbonate, which scores 100. A higher NV means more neutralising power in every tonne. Our bulk NV was 75.5 in the January 2026 Lime WA audit.
Why does particle size matter?
Fine particles react faster than coarse ones. In the January 2026 audit, 99% of our limesand passed a 1 mm sieve and nearly three-quarters was finer than 0.5 mm. The full breakdown is in the analysis table.
How do I know the quality is what you say?
We're a member of Lime WA Inc. Under its independent audit program, DPIRD collects a sample and sends it straight to an approved laboratory. The results are published on the Lime WA product information sheet, which you can download here.
How is my lime weighed?
Every load is weighed on loader scales verified by a licensed verifier approved by the National Measurement Institute.
Do you sell anything besides lime?
Yes. Limestone aggregate (20 mm) and limestone rubble come out of the pit as by-products of lime production. See Products, and email sales@ for availability and pricing.
Can I visit the pit?
The pit is a working site and is not open to the public. To arrange a visit, email admin@greatsouthernlime.com.au.
